I was raised in the Texas panhandle. I graduated high school in Plainview and went on to receive his bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University in College Station. While attending Texas A&M University, I met Melanie who grew up in New Braunfels. Soon after, Melanie and I were married and moved to Houston for work. When the opportunity arose to purchase ranch land and the home my great-grandparents had built decades before, we made the decision to move our family back to rural west Texas. We raised our two boys and continue to run a cow/calf operation just outside of Jacksboro near Cundiff.
Outside of the work on the ranch, I have spent over the past two decades in financial planning services. I currently own Corner Post Financial Planning. Melanie has taught both public school and home school and is currently seeking her master’s degree in Education at Concordia University.
Like most rural Texans, I am also active in the community. I was our former Jack County Commissioner in Precinct 1. I currently serve on the Board of Directors for the Lubbock Christian University Summer Camp program and was the past president of the Hope Shelter. I am a member of the Jacksboro Chamber of Commerce, Friends of Jack County Museum, and the Friends of Fort Richardson. I have volunteered for other charities and non-profits such as the Salvation Army and the Lions Club. I am a strong advocate of teaching our future generations about rural Texas living and values, working with the local 4H Club and as a Boy Scouts Leader.
Our two sons are both in college. Trey currently attends West Texas A&M University in Canyon and Michael attends The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina in Charleston.
